Kai WANG--Associate Professor

Kai WANG, Ph.D., is currently an Associate Professor in the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). His research focuses on quantum dot and perovskite light-emitting diodes and photodetectors, and their applications in emerging displays. He has published more than 150 articles on academic journals about LED (citations over 3500, h-index of 33), more than 50 conference papers and an academic book. He has acquired 22 granted invention patents in China and 2 in USA. His research achievement was awarded the second prize of the National Award for Technological Invention in 2016 and the first prize of the National Ministry of Education Award for Technological Innovation in 2016. He is the recipient of Guangdong Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar.

Research Introduction

Kai WANG, Ph.D., is currently an Associate Professor in the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). His research focuses on quantum dot and perovskite light-emitting diodes and photodetectors, and their applications in emerging displays. He obtained his B.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2006 and 2011 respectively. He was the vice president of Guangdong Real Faith Optoelectronics Co. Ltd from 2011 to 2013. Then he joined in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of SUSTech in 2013. He has published more than 150 articles on academic journals about LED (citations over 3500, h-index of 33), more than 50 conference papers and an academic book. He has acquired 22 granted invention patents in China and 2 in USA. His research achievement is awarded the second prize of the National Award for Technological Invention in 2016, the first prize of the National Ministry of Education Award for Technological Innovation in 2016, and the first price of the Natural Science Award of Hubei Province in 2015. He is the recipient of the Guangdong Science and Technology Special Plan for Top-Notch Young Scholars and Guangdong Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar. He is currently a committee member of the National Flat Panel Display Technical Committee for Standardization, the deputy director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory for Quantum Dots based Advanced Display and Lighting, and a committee member of the IEEE Photonics Society Guangdong Chapter.
