Prof. Shao liyang is a vice dean of school of innovation and entrepreneurship, a researcher and doctoral supervisor in the department of electronic and electrical engineering in Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He received his Ph.D. in Optical Engineering in Zhejiang University in 2008. He worked in many world leading universities and research institutions, including Carleton University, The University of Sydney, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanyang Technological University. Prof. Shao’s main research interests are distributed optical fiber sensing, fiber grating, fiber laser, photonic crystal fiber devices, micro-fiber (Nano-fiber) devices and sensing, microwave photonic sensing measurement, etc. At present, he has published more than 150 academic papers in major international journals and conferences, including more than 100 SCI papers, 2 international magazine review articles and more than 10 international conference reports. His total citation is over 3500 times (cited by others more than 2500 times according to SCI database). Besides, he also owns more than 10 China patents. His research “Microfiber Vector Tiltmeter” has been reproduced by Nature Photonic as Research Spotlight.
At present, he has undertaken more than 10 scientific research projects, such as the international cooperation project of the ministry of science and technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China (surface project), the high-level talent introduction fund of Sichuan province, the major project of the provincial science and technology department, the scientific research launch project of Shenzhen municipal government,. The vertical funding is nearly 10 million.
