The third liquid Crystal Young Scholars Forum was held in 5 May-6 May 2018 in Shenzhen, China. This conference was hosted by Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, co-sponsored by Nanjing University School of Modern Engineering and Applied Science, East China University of Science and Technology, 《Light: Science & Applications》under Nature book concern and journal 《Liquid Crystal and Display》. Assistant Professor Dan Luo and Associate Professor Yanjun Liu from Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering preside at the conference. Professor Xiaowei Sun, chairman of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, attended the meeting and gave a welcoming speech.

Focusing on the purpose of "communication, cooperation, co-win, innovation", the conference is aimed to provide a free, equal and pragmatic subject communication platform for young scholars engaged in the research of liquid crystal related materials and devices. The forum consists of two parts: academic reports and thematic discussions. It had 46 participants and 30 academic reports.

The young scholars in the conference had several academic and thematic discussions in 5 May and 6 May. The reports were divided into six sections according to the theme. This seminar embroidered on blue-phase liquid crystals, three-dimensional displays, flexible displays, liquid crystal lasers, liquid crystal lenses, liquid crystal elastomers, liquid crystal alignment, liquid crystal adaptive optics, microwave terahertz liquid crystal devices, liquid crystal optical communication devices and other related fields to have deep discussion and communication, and obtained good effects.

The third liquid Crystal Young Scholars Forum in 2018 provided a high-level thematic exchange platform for improving communication and cooperation of young scholars in liquid crystal field in China. And it had great effects on promoting the growth of young experts, the integration of basic research, applied basic research and industrial transformation. The forum left a deep impression on the participants, had enthusiastic responses and achieved great success. Decided by all the participating youth experts and scholars in this conference, the 2019 China liquid Crystal Youth Scholars Forum will be held by Zhejiang University.
