• Novel reflective liquid crystal displaysWe use a film as reflective layer with high reflectivity, and the full-color display is controlled by a electric field controlling driver layer.
• Liquid crystal biosensorThe LCs are susceptible to external stimulus, including temperature, mechanical stress, optical radiation, electric filed and magnetic field, which enables sensor. The LC droplets have been widely used in environmental and biomedical science as a sensor with high sensitivity.
• Electrically/optically controllable light shutters/smart windowsGenerally, in a CLC cell, the P texture and FC texture can be obtained in different featured electrical conditions. At planar state, most of the incident light passes through the LC layer, realizing a high transmittance of smart window.
• Liquid crystal tunable photonic/ terahertz devicesFabrication of optical wave plates at visible, infrared and terahertz bands based on the birefringence properties of liquid crystals.
